Structural Integration Principles for Yoga Teachers

  • Sadhana Center for Yoga & Meditation 403 Warren Street Hudson, NY, 12534 United States

Our bodies tell the stories of our lives. And sometimes, we may hold on to stress and tension, our posture may become wonky, our muscles may overwork or go to sleep. Structural Integration is a body therapy and body education system that restores healthy alignment and healthy movement patterns. In SI, we create more balance in the body through hands-on manipulation and movement re-patterning techniques. The guiding principles of SI can also be applied specifically to Yoga! In this workshop, we will:

— explore the principles of Structural Integration that are particularly relevant to Yoga

— give language to the attributes of a healthy moving human body (in other words, what are we going for?)

— explore Yoga practice as an opportunity to create more integrity in body structure and healthy muscle mechanics (in other words, how do we get there?)

— honor the stories of our bodies while gaining tools and skills for our healing and evolution
